One month before we brought Christopher home, our friends, Kai, Michael and Rainey (pronounced Rene) threw a baby shower. Though the shower took place long before we knew about Christopher, we knew our baby was coming home soon. Almost exactly one month later, Christopher came home.
When Matteo was born, we had very little time to put anything together let alone a shower. After we settled into being daddies to a new baby, our friends, Christina, Lisa and Duffy, threw a baby shower. The food was excellent, the company was great, the weather was perfect and the guest of honor slept most of the day.
It’s my party
All was not lost, though. Christopher, who awoke from his nap one hour after the party started, joined in the festivities. Frankly, I believe he thought the party was for him. It’s okay…we won’t tell.
Though we didn’t take many pictures chronicling the event, Christopher thoroughly enjoyed himself. I did, however, take the below video of Christopher with his friends, Alec and Katie, eating the guacamole. Notice how Christopher cares more about the chips than the guacamole. Alec, on the other hand, knows what’s up. Is that a double dip? Priceless.

When Christopher awoke on Sunday morning, he kept talking about the “party.” Coincidentally, our friends, David and JP, and their children, Evan and Sophie, came by for an afternoon of play. We BBQ’d steaks and veggies, drank some wine and entertained the children. Suffice it to say, Christopher had a full social calendar this weekend. So, I found it as no surprise when he awoke this morning to “party.” Sadly, I had to break the news that it was just us.
